719 Blythe Ave25

Completely & tastefully upgraded, freshly painted, and waiting for you. This Drexel Hill twin is the definition of ‘well kept’. This home perpetuates the dream of affordable suburban living, while costing only a quick trip for the big city amenities of Philadelphia.

719 Blythe Ave26 719 Blythe Ave27 719 Blythe Ave29

The main level features an open floor plan, with original hardwood flooring, a charming brick fireplace, and updated kitchen cabinets & countertops. Additionally a half wall w/ countertop separates the dining room and kitchen, allowing for an additional dining surface and/or buffet area.

The second floor has three bedrooms and a full hall bath. Notice as the original hardwood floors continue to shine throughout the second floor.

The walk-up attic has two rooms.  The front two/thirds have been converted into a walk-in closet, with envy inspiring wall mounted shoe racks. The back third functions as a serene, working office.

719 Blythe Ave24

The basement offers a finished and carpeted family/play room, equipped with an updated powder room. Additionally there is a separate laundry area, with an outdoor exit.  Other benefits front porch with roof, detached one-garage, backyard w/ both grass & patio areas, and much more.  This home also is in the footprint for Aronimink Elementary School; one of Upper Darby School Districts highest rated elementary schools.

So we know the house looks great.  You can bring your things and just move right in.  But what’s the neighborhood like?  This home grades higher than the average Drexel Hill in regards to walkability.  This is driven by the close proximity to the former Waverley Theater, which many consider the traditional downtown area of Drexel Hill.

There are several local dining options, just a few steps away.  For delicious, Italian specialties stop by Pagano’s on Township Line.  You can buy your Sunday dinner groceries here, or walkout with a classic Italian sandwich.  One of of my favorite local bar and restaurants is a short drive, 2312 Garrett.  A wonderful, city styled gastropub here in Drexel Hill.  Great menu options.  Great beer selections.  Great atmosphere.

Nightlife options include JD McGillicuddy’s in the aforementioned Waverly Theater.  A great place for live music and drink specials.  For a quieter nightlife option you can try Trophy Tavern and catch whichever game is on the TV.

There’s a few shopping options as well.  The Yard Sale offers something old and something in regards to home goods.  And for all you comic lovers, stop by Effin Comics on Burmont & Garrett.

Inside you’re welcomed by refinished, hardwood flooring throughout.  There’s plenty of space to entertain or relax in the large Living Room.  The inviting, formal Dining Room is ready and awaiting your future holidays and celebrations.  The newer kitchen with tile flooring and matching, stainless steel appliances offers a clean, modern look.  There’s also powder room on this floor.

Screen Shot 2014-08-26 at 6.18.10 PM

The lower level is completed by a spacious Family Room accompanied by a newer Powder Room.  The large laundry area also offers a second kitchen (partial) for any amateur chef.

When you’re looking at a home like this you’re not just buying a structure.  You’re buying a dream and neighborhood.  When it comes to neighborhoods Havertown is easy to buy.  Let’s take a peek at what there is to do.  WalkScore calls for a car, but we already knew that.  One of the best places to get a great breakfast and a good cup of coffee is local spot Kettle.  A very relaxed atmosphere and even better food.  I tend to go with the San Diego Breakfast Burrito or Huevos Rancheros.  Looking for a great place for dinner?  Just walk one shop over to VIDA Taqueria & BYOB for Mexican Tappas styled plates.  Delicious.  Bring your favorite tequila and they’ll supply the Margarita Mix & cool, evening atmosphere.  If you’re going on the weekend make sure you make reservations.  It gets busy quick.  If you have a sweet tooth?  Go one more shop over to Koffmeyer’s.  Smells so good as you walk by, that you just go on in.

If you want to just be social and hangout for a drink there’s plenty of local options.  The Crossbar offer sports viewing to all, Football, Futbol, Baseball, Hockey.  But esp the Futbol.  Want some bites with your brew?  Check out Brick ‘n Brew.  Brick oven pizza, amazing apps, and great beer.  And if you just want to tie a a few on?  Head over to JD McGillicuddy’s on Brookline.  There’s a great mid-week happy hour atmosphere, wings, and live music.

Back to the wonderful home on Mount Pleasant.  Let’s hear what current owners have to say:

“This is the house that we bought three weeks before we were married.  Shortly after purchasing the house we began to make it our home by remodeling and cosmetically altering the interior to make it more to our tastes.  We were blessed with our first child in this home and made her a beautiful nursery and spaciously finished family room/finished basement for her to learn to crawl and have a safe place for her to play.”

Updates Made During Ownership and other Highlights:

  • All new kitchen with granite countertops
  • Completely finished basement
  • All bathrooms completely remodeled and new
  • Refinished hardwood floors
  • Recessed lighting (kitchen, basement, and living room)
  • Most windows (all single windows) are new
  • One car attached garage

Presented by John Dempsey.  This beautifully renovated mid-century Colonial style, multi-level home is sited on more than an acre of land. An Entry Foyer with coat closet opens to a generously proportioned Living Room, featuring a wood burning fireplace accented by stone surround and rich, hardwood ceilings.

Screen Shot 2014-05-23 at 11.24.20 AM

This space also walks up three steps to the open-air Dining Room, highlighted by a finished hardwood floor and ample natural light.

Screen Shot 2014-05-23 at 11.26.36 AM

The adjacent Kitchen is exquisitely appointed with granite countertops, updated cabinets, stainless steel appliances, and finished hardwood floors. Above the sink you can look through a picture window cutout to the large, freshly painted breakfast room.

Screen Shot 2014-05-23 at 11.30.11 AM

The second floor offers a Master Suite with three separate closets and a master Bath with stall shower. Three additional spacious Bedrooms, and hall bath complete this floor.

Screen Shot 2014-05-23 at 11.31.54 AM

The finished basement has been used as a playroom. It provides multiple storage options and separate and easily accessed utilities.

Screen Shot 2014-05-23 at 11.36.07 AM

This home offers a few options on the lower main level, including a family room, laundry room, large powder room, and interior access to the attached two-car garage.  There’s also a detached garage, back deck with roof, and a back patio with roof.

Screen Shot 2014-05-23 at 11.34.31 AM

So the house looks great, but how’s the neighborhood?  Well Walk Score tells what we already know, this is a car dependent area.  The semi-rural feel is one of the reasons you’re looking in Glen Mills.

Plenty of options for coffee.  You have your standard chains.  But there’s also some local flavor.  PureBread Cafe has a Glen Mills location nearby.  They offer upscale soups, salads and sandwiches served fresh from 6:30am daily. Fresh baked muffins, pastries and more. Smoothies, espresso, cappuccino and over a dozen gourmet coffees all day long.

You like maple syrup?  You’re in luck.  Check out Maple Man Products for all of your maple syrup & treat needs.

Want to spend a day outside?  Expose yourself to some history?  Or even take some pictures with great scenery?  Look no further than Newlin Grist Mill.  The mill has been running for over 300 years.  It won’t disappoint.  Neither will this home.  And it won’t last long.

Classic, Center-Hall Colonial offered in the Aronimink Section of Drexel Hill, on 801 Concord Ave.

IMG_6145Screen Shot 2014-01-28 at 7.34.24 PM

This home, presented by John Dempsey, sits admirably on a corner lot.  Internally it boasts beautiful hardwood floors.  The main level features a spacious fireside living room with bay window, dining room, an office with light from three directions,  and a kitchen w a/GE range and a Maytag dishwasher.

Screen Shot 2014-01-28 at 11.09.06 AM

The main level also offers a bonus dining/game room and a large entertainment room, equipped with a powder room and access to the fenced backyard.

Screen Shot 2014-01-28 at 7.31.16 PM

Follow the stairs up to the second floor with two corner bedrooms, a full bath, and a large master bedroom.  Just up one more flight you’ll find two bedrooms and a second full bathroom.

Screen Shot 2014-01-28 at 3.39.30 PMScreen Shot 2014-01-28 at 3.40.04 PM

And yet there’s still more room to grow with a full unfinished basement and a large detached garage.

So the house looks great.  But you don’t just buy for the house.  Neighborhood is just as important.  At this location you’re a little less than a mile from what’s traditionally considered the Drexel Hill town center at the intersection of Burmont Rd and Drexel & Woodland Avenues.  But you’re also close to business districts at State Rd & Lansdowne Ave, Burmont Rd & Township Line, and Burmont & Garrett Roads.

Walk Score gives us the head up that we’re in a more car dependent neighborhood, but that’s not something we didn’t know.   Still, there’s some strong walking options within a mile radius.

A pizza from Pizza Odyssey is just forty steps away from your front door.  That sounds like the best idea ever.

Looking for a late night refreshment?  You can walk over to J.D. McGillicuddy’s on Wednesday nights for a cold drink and a round of quizzo.  Want an IPA or a microbrew?  Check out 2312 Garrett.  They have plenty of options and a great atmosphere.

Like boutique style consignment shops?  Well check out The Yard Sale right down the street.  You won’t leave empty handed, especially if you like vinyl records and repurposed furniture.   And for the fanboys out there check out Effin Comics.  Stock up on some Hero Clix and let’s see if they’ll host a tourney.

Don’t miss and opportunity to own a classic home in a great neighborhood.

How about the location?  Roxborough is a great neighborhood.  And here you’re also close to the Manayunk Border.  One of the benefits of this great neighborhood it’s suburban feel and city like amenities; restaurants, shopping, nightlife, low taxes, etc.
